Another busy week at Southside!

There’s lots of news to report this week from Southside, Lincoln’s newest and freshest arts, events and community venue!

We’re happy to announce that our new projector has been installed which will come in very handy for events such as film screenings, conferences, meetings, film clubs and charity events.

Live jazz returned to Southside on Friday when we hosted the latest weekly instalment of Commuter Jazz. The fantastic Me and Mr Jones provided the entertainment – our friends Rachel and Paul from Peggy’s Skylight along with Simon Paterson on double bass and Stevie Smith on drums.

This was the first time we’ve held Commuter Jazz in the former church building, now known as St Katherine’s Hall, and it was a great venue for Me and Mr Jones’ nostalgic, bluesy sound.

Also last week we welcomed the Rise and Shine theatre group to our St Katherine’s Hall. Rise and Shine is a Lincoln-based community theatre company for adults with disabilities, and they run two groups here on Monday evenings: Sign Choir for all ages from 5pm to 6pm and Community Theatre Group (18+) from 6.30pm to 8pm.

If dancing’s more your thing there’s always an opportunity to try Irish dancing with the Tom Conroy Irish Dance Academy. Tom visits the Amie Slavin Hall on Tuesdays from 6.30pm to 7.30pm to teach his fully inclusive and fun Irish dance classes! All ages are welcome.

Don’t forget our weekly pop-up skipping sessions led by Jack from BoxerciseLincoln Elite on Mondays from 7pm to 8pm. If you fancy doing a bit more exercise and want to have a laugh with your mates then come to Southside! All ages are welcome.

If you’re looking for a venue for music, dance or anything else, get in touch with us!
